SwimmingWorld.TV Partners With Almaden Swim & Racquet Club
and Pacific Swimming to Present Far Western Championships -- March
23, 2010
SAN JOSE, California, March 23. THE 2010 Far Western Short Course
Championships, hosted in Morgan Hill, Calif., April 8-11, will be
streamed globally thanks to a partnership between Almaden Swim
& Racquet Club, Pacific Swimming and SwimmingWorld.TV.
Finals races can be viewed live and on-demand via SwimmingWorld.TV.
There will be play-by-play and interviews with some of the
swimmers. It will be free to access, and is a great way for family
and friends to catch the action.
"We are really excited about the partnership with Swimming World,"
said Meet Director, Mark Scannell. "Last year this premier
championship age group meet hosted 1,325 swimmers from 11 States
and 168 Swim Clubs. Former U.S. Olympic Medalists Tara Kirk ('04),
Matt Grevers ('08) and Lynn Vidali ('68 & '72) were on hand to
present medals to the event finalists. This year, we are looking
forward to introducing live streaming video for everyone to
enjoy."
Morgan Hill Aquatic Center in Morgan Hill, Calif. will serve as
the meet venue for the fourth time in six years. This meet has a
rich tradition as one of the top national age group championships.
It was first hosted in the early 1960s at Foothill College by Hall
of Fame Coach Nort Thornton. Swimmers from previous Far Westerns,
like Natalie Coughlin and Summer Sanders went on to represent the
United States at the Olympic Games and World Championships.
"Swimming World will work hard to feature the swimmers at this
competition so that parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors
can enjoy the excitement. We will create a historical record of the
event so that swimmers and coaches, even college coaches, can
watch, review and analyze important aspects of a swimmer's
development", commented Brent Rutemiller (Swimming World CEO,
Publisher).
Finals are expected to begin at 5 p.m. each day and can be viewed
at SwimmingWorld.TV.
